CARE FOR CASEY
***UPDATE: Thanks to your incredibly generous donations, we have reached our initial goal for Casey and her treatments are set to begin! We are excited that Casey will get the care she needs, and we owe our debt of gratitude to all who have supported her!
Realizing any of our animals could be stricken at any time with an unexpected, life threatening illness, we have chosen to honor Casey by continuing CASEY'S FUND, where donations will be devoted specifically to the care and treatment of any animal in need of serious medical care.
If you would like to donate to this fund, please mark your donations "Casey's Fund" so dollars are directed to this very worthy cause! Thank you so very much!
We will keep you updated on Casey's progress!
Background: On Sunday, March 6th, La Crescent Animal Rescue said hello to 4 new dogs - 2 adults and 2 puppies. One of the adults - the male - was in very poor health. After a visit to the clinic, it was discovered that in addition to having several tick born diseases, this poor boy suffered from a very advanced case of Heartworm. Sadly, we had to say good bye to this sweet dog who was in such agony.
After testing the adult female, Casey (her real name - previously referred to as Hannah), we were shocked and saddened to learn that she, too, has tested positive for Heartworm. Fortunately, she is still treatable. This is where your generous and loving hearts can help. Treatment for Heartworm can be close to $1000. Successfully treating this condition can be quite tricky, and the necessary drugs can only be administered by a licensed veterinarian.
La Crescent Animal Rescue is starting a special fund for the care and treatment of Casey as she battles this life threatening parasite. Your donations, no matter what size, are valued and appreciated more than we can ever fully express. Our current goal (subject to change based on unforeseen expenses) is $750. We are well on our way thanks to generous donations thus far!
